Transformations of Functions Practice Problem: A Square Root Example
There are four different transformations you can do to a function:
- a vertical translation,
- a horizontal translation,
- a vertical stretch/compression/reflection and
- a horizontal stretch/compression/reflection.
Each of these transformations is key to looking at the characteristics and features of functions that we study.
In this video, we will be looking at how these transformations will affect a parent square root graph.
General Equation of Transformations of Functions: y = af(k(x – d)) + c
